Gmail signatures fail with "Mail service not enabled"
Why a Gmail signature deployment fails for some users with "Gmail is not enabled for this Workspace account", and how to fix it.

When CloudCard deploys email signatures to Gmail through Google Workspace, a user’s deployment can fail with this error:
“Gmail is not enabled for this Workspace account. Turn on the Gmail service for this user in the Google Workspace Admin console, then retry.”
Google’s own wording for it is “Mail service not enabled”. You’ll see it in the Last error column of the Deployment Log, with the status Failed.
Why it happens
Google only lets CloudCard set a signature for someone who has Gmail. The deployment fails if that user:
- has no Google Workspace licence that includes Gmail, or
- is in an organisational unit where the Gmail service is turned off.
It usually affects a few users, such as shared or archived accounts, rather than everyone.
Fix it
- Sign in to the Google Workspace Admin console as a Google Workspace admin.
- Check the user has a licence that includes Gmail.
- Check the Gmail service is turned on for the user’s organisational unit.
- Back in CloudCard, open the Deployment Log and click Retry for that user.
If the user shouldn’t have Gmail, you can ignore the error for them.

| “Google authorization is no longer valid. Reconnect the Marketplace app and try again.” | Reconnect the Google Workspace Marketplace app, then retry. |
| “Google denied access to update this Gmail signature. Confirm the Marketplace app is installed with the Gmail settings scope.” | Reinstall the Marketplace app and approve all the permissions it asks for. |
