I can't add my card to my iPhone home screen
Why "Add to Home Screen" is missing or the install steps don't work on iPhone, and how to fix it in Safari.
On this page
On iPhone, you add your card to the home screen from Safari’s share menu. Most problems come from opening the card somewhere other than Safari itself. For the full steps, see Add your card to your phone’s home screen.
The quick fix
- Open Safari on your iPhone.
- Type or paste your card link into Safari’s address bar and open it.
- Tap Safari’s share button. It’s the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
You opened the card from another app
If you tapped your card link in WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Instagram, email or another app, it may have opened in that app’s built-in browser. Those browsers don’t have Add to Home Screen, even though CloudCard still shows the Safari steps.
Look for an option such as Open in Safari or Open in browser in that app’s menu. Or copy the link and paste it into Safari.
You’re using Chrome or another browser
CloudCard’s install steps say “Make sure you are in the Safari browser. Note that other browsers won’t work on iPhones.” Use Safari for the most reliable result.
“It seems the app is already installed on your device.”
CloudCard remembers when you’ve added the card before. If you’ve since removed it from your home screen, this message can still appear.
- Tap the link in the message that offers to clear the browser cache and try installing again.
- Follow the quick fix above.
“Your device does not support progressive web apps.”
You can still add a shortcut. Follow the steps shown under this message, or use the quick fix above.
On an iPad
iPads can identify themselves to websites as a Mac, so CloudCard may not show the iPhone steps. Use the quick fix above. The share button is at the top of Safari on iPad.
The icon is blank or generic
The home screen icon is made from your profile photo or your company logo. If either is very large or in a format such as SVG, a default icon is used instead. See Recommended image sizes and file types.
