Add your WhatsApp number

A WhatsApp button on your card opens a chat with you in WhatsApp, without the other person having to save your number first.

On the Edit Card Details page, the WhatsApp field takes a WhatsApp link rather than a plain phone number. The link is easy to build yourself.

Build your WhatsApp link

Start with https://wa.me/ and add your number in international format, with:

• your country code first (27 for South Africa)
• no plus sign
• no leading zero
• no spaces, brackets or dashes

For example, the South African number 082 123 4567 becomes:

https://wa.me/27821234567

Steps

1. Open the Edit Card Details page. In the dashboard sidebar, open Card and click Edit Card Details.
2. Click Add new field and choose Whatsapp.
3. Enter your WhatsApp link, for example https://wa.me/27821234567.
4. Click Save.

A Whatsapp button now shows on your card. Tap it on your own phone to check it opens a chat with the right number.

If WhatsApp isn’t in the list

The Add new field list only shows fields your organisation allows, and fields that aren’t on your card yet. If Whatsapp is missing, check whether it’s already on your card, or ask your admin to allow it.
