Recommended image sizes and file types
File types, size limits and tips for profile photos, logos, backgrounds and promotional banners on CloudCard.
Every image you upload to CloudCard can be up to 20 MB. Your card is mostly viewed on phones, though, so smaller files load faster for the people you share it with. The tips below help your images look sharp without slowing your card down.
You upload your profile photo yourself. Your organisation’s admin uploads the logo, background and banner in Company Settings, and they appear on everyone’s card.
At a glance
| Image | File types | How it’s shown |
|---|---|---|
| Profile photo | JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP | Cropped to a square, shown as a circle |
| Logo | PNG or JPG (SVG isn’t supported) | Kept in proportion, never cropped |
| Background image | PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP | Fills the screen behind the card |
| Promotional banner | PNG, JPG, MP4 or WebM | Full width across the top of the card |
Profile photo
- When you crop your photo, CloudCard saves it as a square of up to 800 × 800 pixels. Start with a photo at least that size so it stays sharp.
- Keep your face in the centre with some space around your head, because the corners are cut off by the circle.
See Add or change your profile photo.
Logo
- Use PNG or JPG. SVG files aren’t supported.
- A PNG with a transparent background looks best on coloured cards.
- Trim empty space around the logo before you upload it, so it shows as large as possible.
- The logo is also used on wallet passes, and sometimes as the home screen icon, so a simple, clear logo works best.
Background image
- The background is stretched to cover the whole screen behind the card, so its edges may be cut off on some screens.
- Keep important details near the centre, and choose an image that works in both portrait (phones) and landscape (computers).
- Subtle textures and gradients work better than busy photos.
Promotional banner
- The banner fills the full width at the top of the card. Its height follows the image’s shape, so nothing is cropped. A wide landscape image works best.
- Videos play automatically, on mute and on a loop. Keep them short and make sure they work without sound.
- Use MP4 for video. WebM files upload, but they may not play on the Modern card design.
- Banners don’t show on the Classic card design.
