Scan business cards and badges in the app

Photograph a paper business card or event badge, or scan a contact QR code, and save the person straight to your leads.

The Scan tab reads a business card, an event badge or a contact QR code and turns it into a lead, so you don’t have to type anything.

Before you start

  • Your organisation needs the Pro or Premium plan. On the Free plan, the Scan tab shows “Scanning is on Pro and Premium”. Admins can tap Upgrade plan. Everyone else asks their admin.
  • The first time you open Scan, allow CloudCard to use your camera. If you said no, tap Allow camera, or Open settings to allow it in your phone’s settings.

Scan a card or badge

  1. Tap Scan.
  2. Choose Business card or Event badge.
  3. Line it up in the frame and tap Photograph card or Photograph badge. In dim light, turn on the flashlight first.
  4. CloudCard reads the details for you. Check them under Complete contact details and fix anything it misread.

You can only scan with the camera. You can’t choose a photo from your gallery.

Scan a QR code

  1. Tap Scan, then QR code.
  2. Point the camera at the code. It’s read as soon as it’s in view.

This works for contact QR codes and for most other digital business card links. LinkedIn QR codes can’t be saved as leads yet.

Finish the lead

  1. Complete contact details: check the name, email, phone, company and job title. An email address is needed if you want to send them your card.
  2. Notes & Tags: add a note and tags. To dictate instead, tap the AI Voice Note card, speak, then tap Stop & summarise. CloudCard writes a tidy note and suggests tags.
  3. Finish up: choose whether to send them your card and whether to enrich the lead, then tap the save button.

You’ll see “Saved to your leads.” The lead appears on the Leads tab and on the web.

Enrich a lead

Enrichment fills in details such as their company and LinkedIn profile. It’s available on Pro and Premium, and each enrichment uses one of your enrichment credits. If you’ve run out, you’ll see a message saying you have no enrichment credits left. Ask your admin for more.

If the card can’t be read

If you see Could not read the card, tap Retake photo. Use a sharper, closer photo in good light with the whole card in the frame. You can also type the details yourself: on the Leads tab, tap +, then Type details.

No signal? You can still scan. The photo is saved on your phone and read when you’re back online. See Use the app offline.
